So let me tell you a little bit about the Democratic Party.\u00a0\u00a0Ken Martin, the Democratic National Chairman, just outlined the \u201cbottom line\u201d of being a Democrat:\u00a0\u00a0\u201cMake people\u2019s lives a little better\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Democrats are a Party that represents widely divergent views.\u00a0\u00a0They are the Party of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez and the powerful candidate for Mayor of New York, Zohran Mamdani (Zoor-ran Mom-daah-ne: I can say it even if his former Democratic opponent, Andrew Cuomo, can\u2019t<\/em>). They call themselves Democratic Socialists. And Democrats are also the Party of Henry Cuellar of Texas, Catherine Cortez Masto of Nevada and even John Fetterman of Pennsylvania.\u00a0\u00a0No one would ever dare call those folks \u201csocialists\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Democrats are the Party of the \u201cbig tent\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0So what drives them to move forward as a single political group?\u00a0\u00a0It is Martin\u2019s \u201cbottom line\u201d \u2013 \u201cMake people\u2019s lives a little better\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0His fellow Minnesotan,\u00a0\u00a0Vice President and longtime Senator Hubert Humphrey defined \u201cliberalism\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cLiberalism, above all, means emancipation\u2014emancipation from one\u2019s fears, his inadequacies from prejudice, from discrimination, yes, from poverty.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0That 1967 definition still applies to the Democratic Party today, no matter that the \u201cliberal label\u201d has gone far out of style.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n It’s that ultimate goal that keeps Democrats of different \u201cstripes\u201d, different methods, together under one banner, our \u201cbig tent\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n By the way, in a recent and incredibly divisive non-partisan local election here in the Pataskala area, one faction searched for the worst possible insult to throw at an opponent.\u00a0\u00a0They used the \u201cL-word\u201d, \u201cLiberal\u201d, to paint that opponent as unacceptable to local voters.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s funny:\u00a0\u00a0the opposing candidate is a lot of things, but, take it from me, a liberal:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0he\u2019s no liberal.\u00a0\u00a0He\u2019s more of a \u201cpopulist\u201d in the negative, \u201cI\u2019m a victim\u201d, Donald Trump mold.<\/p>\n\n\n\n All of that is in contrast with the current Republican\/MAGA Party, where any deviation from the \u201cParty Line\u201d is snuffed out.\u00a0\u00a0Even in the Justice Department, the ostensibly \u201cblind justice\u201d arm of the Trump government, two prosecutors brought up the past record of a\u00a0\u00a0man convicted of gun offenses and threats to former President Obama.\u00a0\u00a0They put in the sentencing document that the offender was a January 6th<\/sup>\u00a0insurrectionist.\u00a0\u00a0The prosecutors did their jobs by outlining the convicted man\u2019s actions in the Capitol, a record of violence.\u00a0\u00a0But, the MAGA line is that there was no Insurrection, just a peaceful \u201cFirst Amendment\u201d protest outside the Capitol on January 6th<\/sup>, 2021.\u00a0\u00a0(Don\u2019t believe your \u201clying\u201d eyes<\/em>).\u00a0\u00a0Speaking the truth cost those two career prosecutors their jobs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The sure path to oblivion for members of that Party is to stand against Trump.\u00a0\u00a0There is a long line of \u201cformer\u201d politicians, forced out of the political world because they dared to deviate from the \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d dictum.\u00a0\u00a0The one surviving exception; the former \u201cQueen\u201d of MAGA, Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia.\u00a0\u00a0She not only stood up against the coverup of the EPSTEIN FILES, but now is calling for health insurance reform to re-open the US Government.\u00a0\u00a0We\u2019ll see how that goes \u2013 Trump is snubbing her now, and remains silent on her possible Senate run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The media from all ideological positions, hone-in on Democratic internal strife.\u00a0\u00a0MAGA Republicans claim that the Democratic Socialists are \u201ccloset Communists\u201d who represent the entire Democratic Party.\u00a0\u00a0Even Democratic leaders like Senator Chuck Schumer shy away from supporting the \u201cleft-wing\u201d of their own Party.\u00a0\u00a0But the reality of the Democratic Party is this.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Democrats hope to make \u201c\u2026people\u2019s lives a little better\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0That\u2019s true at the National level, and at the local level as well.\u00a0\u00a0How they go about achieving that goal might be different, with labels like \u201csocialist\u201d and \u201cBlue Dog\u201d used to describe methods, but the goal of making things \u201cbetter\u201d remains the same.\u00a0\u00a0So what\u2019s the difference between Democrats and MAGA\/Republicans?<\/p>\n\n\n\n We know the Democratic over-arching theme.\u00a0\u00a0What we need to discuss is; what is the MAGA\/Republican goal?\u00a0\u00a0Perhaps the best way to describe that is the difference between \u201cWall Street and Main Street\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0On Wall Street, the stock markets are soaring to near record highs.\u00a0\u00a0Big money is making bigger profits, and by that measure, the country is, to quote President Trump, \u201c\u2026better than ever before\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n But the view from Wall Street is opposite to the view from Main Street.\u00a0\u00a0The cost of living is high; one job isn\u2019t enough to take care of a family; and the everyday issues of living are just\u2026 hard.\u00a0\u00a0We are looking at soaring insurance costs, and Christmas shopping with prices up because of the President\u2019s tariffs.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n The MAGA\/Republican goal is to \u201cMake Wall Street Great Again\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0One Government action after another helps the rich get richer, regardless of the impact on those who live in the real world of Main Street.\u00a0\u00a0If Democrats are trying to \u201cmake people\u2019s live a little better\u201d, it seems that MAGA\/Republicans are striving to make sure their wealthy backers get even more wealth.
