Move along, Move along.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Pax Americana<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">After World War II, the United States was the leader of the free world.\u00a0\u00a0The international alliances, from the United Nations to NATO to CENTO to SEATO to the more recent AUKUS; maintained general peace, a peace that\u00a0\u00a0the US led, mostly through cooperation.\u00a0\u00a0America provided military and economic assistance.\u00a0\u00a0America promoted democracy.\u00a0\u00a0And American policy made a safer and better world economically and socially.\u00a0\u00a0For almost eighty years, America worked to maintain a world progression, a \u201cPax Americana\u201d where worldwide conflicts, on the scale of World Wars I or II, and nuclear destruction were avoided.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">Like any leader, the US made some mistakes.\u00a0\u00a0We can name them:\u00a0\u00a0Vietnam and Afghanistan, and other lesser failures.\u00a0\u00a0And like any \u201cgood\u201d leader, the United States made sacrifices. The US spent a lot of American dollars to keep the world safer.\u00a0\u00a0And it also recognized that a worldwide economic \u201cweb\u201d made a safer world, giving everyone a stake in prosperity.\u00a0\u00a0So America took a leading role, even accepting some losses, like the increased environmental standards of the Kyoto and Paris Accords. The US did so in order to encourage other nations to do the same.\u00a0\u00a0America had the best economy in the world \u2013 and used that to help the whole world.\u00a0\u00a0Wealth was spent on others to preserve peace and make life better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Rogue Elephant<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">But there always was a different choice.&nbsp;&nbsp;Since the United States was the most powerful, both economically and militarily, America could choose to be the biggest \u201cbully\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;But that\u2019s only if the \u201cbiggest kid on the playground\u201d was \u201cunencumbered\u201d by alliances.&nbsp;&nbsp;As long as all of the interactions were one-on-one (bilateral in political science-ese); then the US would always have the advantage.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">And that\u2019s what the Trump Administration is doing.&nbsp;&nbsp;They are negotiating with Russia over Ukraine, often without Ukrainian involvement.&nbsp;&nbsp;That\u2019s what a \u201cbully\u201d does, changes your life and tells you to \u201clike it\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;They are fracturing NATO, not only demanding that our allies pay more&nbsp;&nbsp;into the alliance, but even questioning the basic premise of Article Five \u2013 that every NATO nation will defend each member as themselves.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">And now with the \u201cTariff Formula\u201d, the Trump Administration is treating each nation as a \u201cbilateral\u201d rival.\u00a0\u00a0The \u201cGreek letter figuring\u201d allows them to be the \u201cBully\u201d, one-on-one, towards every nation from Canada to Fiji.\u00a0\u00a0But a bully can\u2019t be a leader as well.\u00a0\u00a0So the United States under Donald Trump  abrogates our leadership role in the world.\u00a0\u00a0We are going \u201crogue\u201d, acting with apparent impunity to the needs of other nations in the world, and the American populace as well.\u00a0\u00a0The United States is now a rogue elephant in the room, out of control and trashing everything.\u00a0\u00a0If that sounds a lot like Russia or China, it should.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">The Biggest Bully<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"\">The \u201cTariff Formula\u201d is a simple outgrowth of the overall theory of the Trump Administration.\u00a0\u00a0The United States is the biggest, strongest, most powerful Nation, perhaps in world history.\u00a0\u00a0It is our option, to use that advantage against every other nation.\u00a0\u00a0The world is a \u201czero-sum\u201d game, every nation is either a winner or a loser.\u00a0\u00a0And America will win, at the expense of every other nation, even our neighbors, and even our friends.
