{"id":6065,"date":"2022-12-30T09:13:45","date_gmt":"2022-12-30T14:13:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dahlman.online\/?p=6065"},"modified":"2023-07-13T11:24:36","modified_gmt":"2023-07-13T15:24:36","slug":"the-fbi","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dahlman.online\/index.php\/2022\/12\/30\/the-fbi\/","title":{"rendered":"The FBI"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">(<em>In Living Color)<\/em><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">One Show a Night<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When I\u00a0\u00a0was a kid, I was only allowed to watch one hour of television a night, plus the news.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s funny.\u00a0\u00a0Here I was, the kid of a television station manager, and I was restricted on how much TV I could see.\u00a0\u00a0But that was my parent\u2019s \u201crule\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0There was homework to do, and books to read, and conversations to be part of.\u00a0\u00a0So the one hour was \u201cspecial\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One of the shows I did watch was, as the announcer said;<em>\u00a0\u201c\u2026<\/em>THE FBI (<em>in living color),\u00a0<\/em>a Quinn Martin Production,<em>\u00a0<\/em>starring Ephrem Zimbalist Jr.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0The show told the story of FBI Special Agent Lewis Erskine, who travelled the country to keep law and order.\u00a0\u00a0It was on the air from 1965 to 1974, long after my \u201cone hour rule\u201d was no longer enforced.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0It closely upheld the \u201cstandards\u201d of the real FBI, and the infamous Director J Edgar Hoover took a strong interest in the show.\u00a0\u00a0The FBI wasn\u2019t portrayed as a \u201cnamby-pamby\u201d\u00a0\u00a0liberal-loving organization.\u00a0\u00a0The FBI enforced the law, no matter what.\u00a0\u00a0They stood against crime and terrorism and violent protests against the government.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">J Edgar Hoover<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>That pretty much mirrored Hoover\u2019s FBI, the one that\u00a0\u00a0investigated Martin Luther King as a Communist, and infiltrated many of the student protest movements.\u00a0\u00a0In fact, during the Vietnam Era, a young comedian, George Carlin did a bit about the FBI\u2019s habit of tapping private phone lines.\u00a0\u00a0Carlin joked, that we should answer our phone, \u201cF#*K Hoover, may I help you,\u201d to let the FBI know how we felt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The FBI infiltrated the student protest movement, the civil rights movement, the anti-nuclear weapons movement, and the climate change movement.&nbsp;&nbsp;To be fair, they also risked lives to infiltrate the Ku Klux Klan, but it certainly didn\u2019t feel like there was a balance between left and right.&nbsp;&nbsp;Hoover upheld conservative values, and attacked liberal alternatives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Law and Order<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Ephrem Zimbalist Junior received an honorary membership in the Retired FBI Agent Association in 1985, eleven years after the show ended.&nbsp;&nbsp;Even as late as 2009, FBI Director Robert Mueller presented him with a plaque for his positive portrayal of their organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Peter Strzok, the former FBI Counter-Intelligence Agent who was ousted during the Trump-Russia investigation said it best.\u00a0\u00a0The FBI is dedicated to law and order, and because of that, it is a highly conservative organization.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0As Strzok put it, no one talks about politics in the FBI, but they all know where they stand.\u00a0\u00a0The FBI stopped gangsters, then mobsters, then Communists, then protestors.\u00a0\u00a0After 9-11, the mission changed to stop terrorism.\u00a0\u00a0The FBI \u201cliberally\u201d used the enhanced powers in the \u201cPatriot Act\u201d to monitor communications, from emails to cell phones.\u00a0\u00a0Robert Mueller, the Director who started on September 10<sup>th<\/sup>, made the FBI the \u201cpoint of the spear\u201d of America\u2019s response to terrorism.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Crossfire Hurricane<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>His successor was James Comey, the Deputy Attorney General under George W Bush.&nbsp;&nbsp;Comey ordered the investigation of Hillary Clinton, Operation \u201cMid-Year Exam\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;When Comey decided that the Obama Justice Department wouldn\u2019t handle it correctly, he broke precedent by personally announcing that the FBI would not recommend Clinton be charged with a crime.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Then Clinton\u2019s emails come up again on the computer of Anthony Weiner. He was the former Congressman.under investigation for sending pornography to a child.  The emails turned up just weeks before the 2016 election, and Comey struggled.\u00a0\u00a0It was Justice Department policy NOT to interfere in an election.\u00a0\u00a0Reopening the investigation two weeks before election day would definitely &#8220;interfere\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0Comey wrote that he felt \u201cobligated\u201d to make the investigation public.\u00a0\u00a0But there is an alternative story, perhaps more persuasive.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Trump campaign advisor Rudy Giuliani had strong ties in the New York FBI office.\u00a0\u00a0The Weiner investigation and the Clinton connection was already leaked to Giuliani, by agents working on the case.\u00a0\u00a0Comey really had the choice of trying to control the information himself, or have it leak out of his New York office.\u00a0\u00a0So he announced that he was re-opening the Clinton Investigation, Mid=Year Exam.   That action that changed the outcome of the 2016 Presidential election.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At the same time, Comey was well aware that there was a continuing counter-intelligence investigation into the Trump campaign contacts with Russian Intelligence assets.  The code name was \u201cCrossfire Hurricane\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0But he chose to hold that so close to the vest, that nothing was heard before the election.\u00a0\u00a0Like it or not, Comey \u201couted\u201d the Clinton investigation, but kept the Trump investigation secret.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">FBI Kind<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>This is the agency that some Republicans today claim leads a \u201cliberal attack\u201d on the conservative movement, and on Donald Trump.&nbsp;&nbsp;With perhaps the exception of ICE and the Secret Service in the Department of Homeland Security, the FBI (in living color) has proven again and again that it stands not only for American values, but for American conservative values.&nbsp;&nbsp;It really should be no surprise that the FBI knew a whole lot about the Black Lives Matter movement, but seemed to be completely clueless about the groups organizing for the January 6<sup>th<\/sup>&nbsp;Insurrection.&nbsp;&nbsp;The protestors on the Mall that day were the FBI\u2019s \u201ckind of people\u201d.&nbsp;&nbsp;At least they were, until they broke the law.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Tuesday, January 3<sup>rd<\/sup> 2023, Republicans by a slim five-vote margin will take control of the House of Representatives.\u00a0\u00a0We can expect to soon hear a lot about Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop and the \u201cliberal rot\u201d of the top of the FBI.\u00a0\u00a0Many FBI agents will feel betrayed by the Republicans they undoubtedly supported.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0But to Republicans in Congress that\u2019s OK.\u00a0\u00a0They need a scapegoat for the deep rot of the Trump Administration.\u00a0\u00a0They found one:\u00a0\u00a0The FBI (<em>in living color<\/em>).\u00a0\u00a0Jim Jordan\u2019s phone message may well now say:\u00a0\u00a0\u201cF#*K Wray, may I help you?\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(In Living Color) One Show a Night When I\u00a0\u00a0was a kid, I was only allowed to watch one hour of television a night, plus the news.\u00a0\u00a0It\u2019s funny.\u00a0\u00a0Here I was, the kid of a television station manager, and I was restricted on how much TV I could see.\u00a0\u00a0But that was my parent\u2019s \u201crule\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0There was homework to &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/dahlman.online\/index.php\/2022\/12\/30\/the-fbi\/\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading<span class=\"screen-reader-text\"> &#8220;The FBI&#8221;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"nf_dc_page":"","om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"","jetpack_publicize_feature_enabled":true,"jetpack_social_post_already_shared":true,"jetpack_social_options":{"image_generator_settings":{"template":"highway","default_image_id":0,"font":"","enabled":false},"version":2}},"categories":[1],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-6065","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-uncategorized"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v27.4 -
