{"id":4539,"date":"2021-07-27T09:06:38","date_gmt":"2021-07-27T13:06:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/dahlman.online\/?p=4539"},"modified":"2021-07-27T09:06:46","modified_gmt":"2021-07-27T13:06:46","slug":"little-lies","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/dahlman.online\/index.php\/2021\/07\/27\/little-lies\/","title":{"rendered":"Little Lies"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Civil War<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Let\u2019s go back in time a little bit.&nbsp;&nbsp;It\u2019s the fall of 1865, three months after the last Confederate troops surrendered in Texas.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Civil War is over \u2013 like it or not, the Union is reunited and the nation is moving forward.&nbsp;&nbsp;Reconstruction troops occupy many parts of the former Confederacy, there to guarantee that the Rebellion, the Insurrection of 1861, remains over.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But what if Jefferson Davis, former President of the Confederacy, instead of being held for treason in leg irons at Fortress Monroe, was allowed to go from town to town and speak in favor of the Rebellion?&nbsp;&nbsp;What if instead of moving on from the Insurrection, the more than 600,000 dead, the four years of brother against brother and father against son, we allowed the leaders of the Confederacy to continue to preach for their cause?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It would have made no sense.&nbsp;&nbsp;It would have denigrated the ultimate sacrifice made by the Union dead.&nbsp;&nbsp;Even the departed Lincoln, with the final words: \u201cWith malice towards none, with charity for all\u2026\u201d recognized that victory required recognition of the victors, and acceptance by the defeated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">MAGA Mailing<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Somehow, I ended up on the&nbsp;&nbsp;mailing list of an organization called \u201cSave America\u201d, a joint fundraising political action committee along with another title, \u201cMake America Great Again\u201d. It says it\u2019s not authorized by any candidate, but it\u2019s website is donaldjtrump.com.&nbsp;&nbsp;This is the Trump campaign, of 2020.&nbsp;&nbsp;It continues, because there are huge financial gains to be made by \u201ccampaigning\u201d, whether Trump ever intends to run for President again or not.&nbsp;&nbsp;There are Trumpian bills to be paid, and many still willing to donate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here are Mr. Trump\u2019s bullet points:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hydroxychloroquine works<ul><li>The China Virus came from a Chinese Lab<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop was real<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Lafayette Square was not cleared for a photo op<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>The Russian Bounties story was fake<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>We did produce vaccines before the end of 2020, in record time I might add<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Blue state lockdowns didn\u2019t work<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>School should be reopened<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Critical Race Theory is a disaster for our schools and our country<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Our Southern Border security program was unprecedentedly successful.<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Ignoring History<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s like the whole history of our nation from November of 2020, through the inauguration of Joe Biden in January of 2021, didn\u2019t happen.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;It\u2019s as if Jefferson Davis was debating the Constitutionality of secession after the War was done. (<em>Jefferson Davis WAS anxious to continue that debate, and hoped to do so in his treason trial.&nbsp;&nbsp;Instead, he ultimately was allowed to leave US custody on $100,000 bail, and departed to Canada, until Andrew Johnson pardoned him in 1868).<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The \u201cBig Lie\u201d of non-existent election fraud led to the Insurrection of January 6.\u00a0\u00a0But it\u2019s not just that lie that empowers Donald Trump.\u00a0\u00a0It is a series of \u201clittle lies\u201d that have been going on since that \u201cGolden Escalator\u201d moment in 2015.\u00a0\u00a0The \u201clittle lies\u201d softened us up.\u00a0\u00a0We got so used to the lying, that we stopped calling them lies:\u00a0\u00a0they were \u201calternative facts\u201d, and the New York Times had long conferences on using the word \u201clies\u201d (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2016\/09\/20\/public-editor\/trump-birther-lie-liz-spayd-public-editor.html\">NYT<\/a>).\u00a0\u00a0They were afraid by using so often, it would lose impact.\u00a0\u00a0It did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Little Lies<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>We became inured to the lies, overwhelmed by the number and volume and sheer audacity of them.&nbsp;&nbsp;We were told not to believe our own eyes and ears, to only believe what HE (in a godly, capital letter way) told us.&nbsp;&nbsp;And after five years, when HE came out with the \u201cBig Lie\u201d, and incited his followers to attempt to overthrow the Constitutional process of choosing the President, we weren\u2019t ready.&nbsp;&nbsp;The shock of the battle of the Capitol didn\u2019t really set in, until we watched it \u201clive\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>And now we are told again to not believe our own eyes and ears.&nbsp;&nbsp;And the \u201clittle lies\u201d continue too.&nbsp;&nbsp;The former President\u2019s list is still full of them.&nbsp;&nbsp;By the numbers:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Hydroxychloroquine still doesn\u2019t work for COVID (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.covid19treatmentguidelines.nih.gov\/therapies\/antiviral-therapy\/chloroquine-or-hydroxychloroquine-and-or-azithromycin\/\">National Institutes of Health<\/a>)<\/li><li>We still don\u2019t know how the COVID-19 virus began (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/health\/coronavirus-lab-leak-theory\/2021\/06\/20\/30b10be2-c3d9-11eb-8c18-fd53a628b992_story.html\">Washington Post<\/a>)<\/li><li>Lafayette Square was cleared moments before Trump spoke (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2021\/06\/10\/lingering-questions-about-clearing-lafayette-square\/\">Washington Post<\/a>). (An inspector general report that the Park Police only cleared it to install fences never looked at the roles of the Attorney General, Secret Service or other agencies in the park \u201cclearing\u201d.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Lockdowns saved lives (<a href=\"https:\/\/healthfeedback.org\/claimreview\/evidence-shows-that-lockdowns-implemented-to-tackle-the-spread-of-covid-19-have-saved-lives-contrary-to-claims-in-the-new-york-post\/\">Health Feedback<\/a>).<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The others \u2013 it\u2019s hard to factcheck Hunter Biden\u2019s laptop to a non-opinionated source \u2013 unless you use the&nbsp;<em>New York Post,&nbsp;<\/em>and&nbsp;&nbsp;the Russian Bounty story factuality is still undetermined.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Credit where credit is due:&nbsp;&nbsp;Operation \u201cWarp Speed\u201d did produce the vaccine quickly (though Pfizer didn\u2019t get any of the research money) (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2020\/11\/24\/938591815\/pfizers-coronavirus-vaccine-supply-contract-excludes-many-taxpayer-protections\">NPR<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Fortress Monroe<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>But the \u201clittle lies\u201d continue to dilute our world of facts.&nbsp;&nbsp;And the \u201cBig Lie\u201d that led to the attack on the US Capitol and the constitutional process, remains a \u201cfact\u201d for many.&nbsp;&nbsp;Unlike Jefferson Davis, Donald Trump is still selling it to his followers, like a dealer to his junkies.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fortress Monroe is still available.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-full\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" data-attachment-id=\"4540\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/dahlman.online\/index.php\/2021\/07\/27\/little-lies\/fortress-monroe\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dahlman.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Fortress-Monroe.jpeg?fit=275%2C183&amp;ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"275,183\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{&quot;aperture&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;credit&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;camera&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;caption&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;created_timestamp&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;copyright&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;focal_length&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;iso&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;shutter_speed&quot;:&quot;0&quot;,&quot;title&quot;:&quot;&quot;,&quot;orientation&quot;:&quot;0&quot;}\" data-image-title=\"Fortress-Monroe\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dahlman.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Fortress-Monroe.jpeg?fit=275%2C183&amp;ssl=1\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/dahlman.online\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/07\/Fortress-Monroe.jpeg?resize=275%2C183&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-4540\"\/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Civil War Let\u2019s go back in time a little bit.&nbsp;&nbsp;It\u2019s the fall of 1865, three months after the last Confederate troops surrendered in Texas.&nbsp;&nbsp;The Civil War is over \u2013 like it or not, the Union is reunited and the nation is moving forward.&nbsp;&nbsp;Reconstruction troops occupy many parts of the former Confederacy, there to guarantee that &hellip; <a href=\"https:\/\/dahlman.online\/index.php\/2021\/07\/27\/little-lies\/\" class=\"more-link\">Continue reading<span class=\"screen-reader-text\"> &#8220;Little Lies&#8221;<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":1,"featured_media":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"nf_dc_page":"","om_disable_all_campaigns":false,"jetpack_post_was_ever_published":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_access":"","_jetpack_dont_email_post_to_subs":false,"_jetpack_newsletter_tier_id":0,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false,"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false,"footnotes":"","jetpack_publicize_message":"Little Lies - America is still living with the \"Big Lie\".
