The New York Post\u00a0<\/em>is a venerable old newspaper.\u00a0\u00a0The paper was founded in 1801 by Alexander Hamilton. It lays claim to the title of,\u00a0\u00a0\u201cthe oldest continually published daily paper in the United States\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0It started as Hamilton\u2019s personal vehicle for furthering his political ideology.\u00a0\u00a0After Hamilton\u2019s untimely death, the paper continued to have strong political overtones, including the support of abolitionism, opposition to central banking (despite it’s Founder) and strong support of labor unions.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n Through the mid-twentieth century the\u00a0New York Post\u00a0<\/em>was dedicated to liberal causes.\u00a0\u00a0But in the 1970\u2019s the\u00a0NYP\u00a0<\/em>ran into hard financial times, like most afternoon papers in the United States.\u00a0\u00a0Australian media magnate Rupert Murdoch of\u00a0Fox News\u00a0<\/em>fame took over the paper.\u00a0\u00a0Murdoch sensationalized it, increasing the circulation but definitely damaging it\u2019s credibility.\u00a0\u00a0It was in this era that the\u00a0NYP\u00a0<\/em>led with the famous headline:<\/p>\n\n\n\n \u201cHEADLESS BODY FOUND IN TOPLESS BAR\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n But perhaps the\u00a0NYP\u2019s\u00a0<\/em>best covers were reserved to \u201csexting\u201d addicted Democratic Congressman Anthony Weiner.\u00a0\u00a0As Weiner continued to fall to the lure of young women and his cell phone camera, the\u00a0New York Post\u00a0<\/em>headline writers went to work.\u00a0\u00a0\u201cWEINER EXPOSED\u201d, \u201cPOP GOES THE WEASEL\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0\u201cNAKED TRUTH\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>were some of the best.\u00a0\u00a0And when Weiner was running for Mayor of New York and caught once again, this time resulting in jail time:\u00a0\u201cWEINER\u2019S SECOND COMING\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0\u201cWEINER ROAST\u201d\u00a0<\/strong>(NYP<\/a><\/em>).\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n Today the New York Post <\/em>is still owned by News Corps, a Rupert Murdoch company, and has a strong conservative \u201cbent\u201d. It has been the vehicle to attack Democratic\/Liberal ideas and candidates. Hillary Clinton still is a particularly important target for the NYP, <\/em>even now four years after her Presidential run.<\/p>\n\n\n\n So it should be no surprise that the NYP <\/em>is the only \u201cmainstream\u201d news outlet carrying stories about Joe Biden, his son Hunter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The\u00a0NYP\u00a0<\/em>has \u201cdiscovered\u201d a \u201cwhistleblower,\u201d that found hidden Hunter Biden emails.\u00a0\u00a0If that doesn\u2019t harken back to Clinton, nothing else will.\u00a0\u00a0The \u201cwhistleblower\u201d is a blind computer repairman in Wilmington, Delaware. He is 99% sure that Hunter Biden dropped off a Macbook Pro computer for repair, and never returned for it.\u00a0\u00a0(The definition of a \u201cwhistleblower\u201d is someone inside an organization who speaks out about something that organization is doing wrong.\u00a0\u00a0Since the repairman is not in any \u201corganization\u201d involving Hunter or Joe Biden, he doesn\u2019t qualify as a \u201cwhistleblower\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0But the \u201cwhistleblower\u201d title has a nice ring to it, doesn\u2019t it?)<\/p>\n\n\n\n Those emails include ones that \u201cshow\u201d that Hunter Biden arranged for his father, then the Vice President, to meet with Ukrainians on the Board of the company, Burisma.\u00a0\u00a0If the emails were true, then this is the \u201csmoking gun\u201d of the Vice President using his office to further the career of his wayward son.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Further emails show Hunter Biden\u2019s involvement in lucrative purchases of Chinese energy companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n According to the computer repairman, the emails are already in the possession of the FBI. Since he heard nothing about an investigation, he grew frustrated. So he gave them to the Johnson Senate Committee and Trump\u2019s private attorney, Rudy Giuliani, who then gave the emails to the\u00a0New York Post.<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n Trump supporters are outraged that other mainstream media outlets refused to \u201ccover\u201d these discoveries. In fact, social media platforms like Twitter <\/em>and Facebook <\/em>have \u201ctaken down\u201d stories relating to the New York Post\u2019s<\/em> articles, creating a whole new round of stories. So what\u2019s the problem?<\/p>\n\n\n\n First:\u00a0\u00a0the computer repairman refuses to grant access to the hard drive, or even originals of the emails including the \u201cmeta-data\u201d showing details of their transmission.\u00a0\u00a0There is no way to verify any of the so-called emails really existed, or belonged to Hunter Biden.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Second:\u00a0\u00a0one of the driving forces behind the publication of these emails, Rudy Giuliani, has been discredited.\u00a0\u00a0Giuliani was a major player in the causes of Donald Trump\u2019s impeachment trial.\u00a0\u00a0US Intelligence has identified Giuliani\u2019s main information source, Ukrainian Andrii Derkach, as an asset of Russian Intelligence.\u00a0\u00a0Derkach is under\u00a0sanction<\/a>\u00a0by President Trump’s own Treasury Department.\u00a0\u00a0And the \u201cdiscovered\u201d emails align perfectly with the Russian disinformation campaign to disrupt the 2020 US elections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Third: the other person who brought the emails to the NYP <\/em>is <\/em>former White House advisor and Trump campaign manager Steve Bannon. Bannon was the first to alert the newspaper to the emails \u201cexistence\u201d, and then Giuliani provided the emails without confirming documentation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n The Trump campaign is desperate for an \u201cOctober Surprise\u201d. In 2016, the course of the election was turned \u201con its head\u201d by FBI Director James Comey. He first announced that he was re-opening the Hillary Clinton email investigation, and then, at the last moment, announced that nothing new was found.\u00a0\u00a0These actions stopped Clinton momentum in the polls.\u00a0\u00a0Prior to the FBI announcement Clinton had a huge lead in the polls, much like Biden over Trump today.\u00a0\u00a0After the FBI actions, Trump rapidly closed the polling gap to within the margin of error.<\/p>\n\n\n\n There\u2019s no \u201csurprise\u201d in 2020 yet, but it\u2019s not for want of trying.\u00a0\u00a0Attorney General Bill Barr has failed to deliver on two different attacks on the Democrats.\u00a0\u00a0First was the analysis of the original Russian election interference investigation, \u201cCrossfire Hurricane\u201d.\u00a0\u00a0Led by Connecticut US Attorney John Dunham, Trump hoped the Dunham could reveal illegalities that would show FBI bias against Trump in time for the 2020 vote.\u00a0\u00a0But Dunham has made it clear that there will be nothing coming from his work before November.<\/p>\n\n\n\n And Barr ordered another investigation, this time by Texas US Attorney John Bash. This was to determine whether the \u201cunmasking\u201d of US citizens in Obama Administration intelligence reports was legal.\u00a0\u00a0Trump hoped it would show an Obama \u201cplot\u201d against his campaign.\u00a0\u00a0But Bash returned his conclusions, finding that there was no \u201cirregularities\u201d in the actions by Obama Administration officials (NYT<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n So it shouldn\u2019t be much of a surprise that after Barr\u2019s failures, Giuliani and Bannon would step in with a \u201cHail Mary\u201d play against Hunter Biden. Trump is currently running more than twelve percent down in national polls, and behind in almost every critical electoral state. He\u2019s got to change the momentum, and if his minions have to use Russian dis-information to do it \u2013 so be it.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"More Headlines<\/h3>\n\n\n\n
